Queen's Garden Resort in Saba

For a nice quiet getaway, Queen's Garden is the perfect place to stay with only 12 suites. This little gem is neatly tucked away on a hill 1200 ft above sealevel. It is a luxury boutique hotel. Each suite occupies an entire floor of a quaintly Saban building painted white with green trimmed window shutters & a red roof, uniform across the little island of Saba.

Queen's garden prides itself in service. The service was over the top & the staff constantly exceed expectations. From the moment we landed at the airport, someone was ready to pick us up. Not only that, our driver was aware we had to check into the dive shop before getting to the hotel. When we arrived we had someone help us with our luggage to our room which we were thankful for since there were a lot of stairs. We met with the owner, Claire, who greeted us with complimentary drinks & a nice cool towelette. We went over the itinerary of our trip with recommendations on hikes & organizing the lunches for our dives the following day.

Our spacious room living room area had a large sliding door overlooking the hotel pool & restaurant, with the backdrop of the lush green hills. Right next to our living space with TV, desk & couch, was the in room jacuzzi which was absolute heaven after a day of hiking. The jacuzzi had a great view of the hotel & of the capital and had large white shutter windows, keeping the space nice & open.

There was no need for any screens on any of the windows, as there were no mosquitoes. The hotel uses rainwater cisterns which are common in the Caribbean as a water reserve. Rainwater is collected and the water is treated and used throughout the hotel. Large bottles of water were complimentary because it was not recommended to drink the tap water.

The hotel itself was nice & comfortable but what stood out was the great service. As we snoozed a little too long after a day of hiking, the next morning I called the restaurant to let them know that I will be diving and needed a packed lunch & a breakfast. We wouldn't have enough time to pack our things & eat before we would be picked up for our diving trip. Almost immediately the waitress shows up with our breakfast so we would be able to eat something before we head out for a full day of diving. From all our meals, even making reservations at other restaurants and hiking trails, the staff at Queen's Garden treat their guests with the upmost attentiveness & Saban hospitality.

The hotel has a spa, outdoor swimming pool, lounge area with a bar and one of the best restaurants on the island. With our itinerary so jam packed for our two day getaway, we had all our meals from the hotel and they were delicious. I was pleasantly surprised that they served Lion Fish on one of the nights. Lion Fish is non-native fish species, so not only was I enjoying a great meal but also helping marine life in removing this invasive species. Their menu changes daily with some staple signature dishes such as their parmigiano cheese wheel pasta that is finished inside a flaming cheese wheel right before your eyes and of course my favourite Fresh Saban Lobster. Let the restaurant know in advance if you would like to dine in their special "bird's nest" table which is on a wooden platform perched on a mango tree! It's a great romantic spot to enjoy your dinner. You'll thank us later!

We wish we had more time to spend at the hotel and enjoy all their ammenities & spa. Until next time!
